IWD 2020 #EachforEqual #4CTheFutureOfBusiness

Mar 12, 2020 • Aaron Goldman

Today we’re going to take a break from reverse engineering closed ecosystems to address the larger business universe.

This past Sunday was International Women’s Day. Each year, the IWD organization picks a theme for the year and 2020 is #EachForEqual

At 4C, we strive for the ideals reflected in this theme and “actively choose to challenge stereotypes, fight bias, broaden perceptions, improve situations and celebrate women’s achievements.”

Throughout Women’s History Month in March, we’re putting the spotlight on some of the incredible women who work at 4C around the world. We’ll showcase their successes, talk about some of the challenges they faced, and give them a platform to share advice with women just starting out in their careers.

For starters, check out Kate and Eshani.

In thinking about the future of business, it’s clear equality is the imperative. A recent report from the International Labour Association surveyed 13,000 employees in 70 countries and found that gender diversity improved business outcomes.

As the IWD points out, “Equality is not a women’s issue, it’s a business issue. Gender equality is essential for economies and communities to thrive.” The IWD theme espouses a “Collective Individualism” to which everyone can aspire…

“We are all parts of a whole. Our individual actions, conversations, behaviors and mindsets can have an impact on our larger society. Collectively, we can make change happen. Collectively, we can each help to create a gender equal world.”

For my part, I pledge to work tirelessly to create a good culture in the workplace and at home. As the leader of a team with seven tremendously talented women, husband of an amazing woman with a successful career, and father of two fierce young women with limitless potential, I know how important it is to push for gender equality and the powerful results that can be achieved with collective individualism.

This week, and every week, I encourage you to join me in embodying #EachForEqual.
