Each year, people around the world share tidings on social media. As the festive season gets underway, we looked into the usage of popular Twitter hashtags for Christmas, Hanukkah, New Year’s, and the Holidays in English, Spanish, French, German and Italian.

Christmas hashtags have steadily trended higher around the world over the past month with English being the most popular language.

English hashtags like #happyhanukkah and #festivaloflight are the most common in celebration of Hanukkah on social media around the world.

While New Year’s hashtags from most languages have climbed steadily in popularity, German hashtags including #sylvester spiked several times during November and December.

The use of the Spanish hashtag #felicesfiestas, translating to “happy holidays” in English, increased dramatically towards the end of November.
