We’re beyond excited to announce our Founder & Chief Scientist Dr. Alok Choudhary was named “Best Tech Manager” at last night’s 2017 Timmy Awards ceremony. The Timmy Awards, created by Tech in Motion, are an international event series that brings local tech communities together to meet, learn, and innovate. The award program recognizes companies not just for their use or development of technology, but also for their investment in the people that make the technology possible.

The tech community and an expert panel selected Dr. Choudhary for the award because of his  influence in shaping the field of data science and ability to inspire young minds from diverse backgrounds that will one day lead the industry. Dr. Choudhary was selected among notable finalists including managers from Sittercity, Backstop Solutions, Capital One, and Civis Analytics. Dr. Choudhary inspires innovation as he helps to build a product that is transforming the way advertising and content is measured, planned, bought, and sold.

“Alok was awarded Tech in Motion Chicago’s Best Tech Manager because he is seen by his team and peers as a leader who goes beyond the necessary duties of his role to empower his team,” said Mandy Walker, Director of Marketing at Tech in Motion and Motion Recruitment Partners. “He encourages an open and communicative team culture as well as inspires his team at 4C Insights to produce an innovative product that encourages team members to continually grow.”

“Chicago is truly a global technology hub and I am honored to be recognized among these deserving nominees,” remarked Dr. Choudhary. “Throughout my career I have focused on developing future talent in data science. I have had the honor to do so in many capacities both as a professor at Northwestern University and as a manager and executive at 4C. Data has incredible potential to solve the world’s most important challenges and I’m thrilled to have to opportunity to mentor the generations that are going to solve them. This award would not have been possible with the brilliant and curious minds that I’ve been fortunate to work with.”

The Timmys are presented every year in tech hub cities across North America, including Silicon Valley, San Francisco and Washington DC. A list of 2017 Chicago winners and finalists is available here.
