Well, the Summer Games are in the books and this one truly had it all – controversy, protest, redemption, and whatever you call the Lochte thing.

Throughout the games, we here at 4C have had our fingers, er… algos on the pulse of the conversation. You can read all about it on our Impact Reports and featured coverage in Adweek.

It should come as no surprise that Brazil’s narrow victory in men’s football was the most social moment with more than 8 million engagements across Facebook and Twitter – about 500,000 more than the next biggest moment.

The battle of the sponsors was not nearly as contested. Samsung struck gold with nearly 240,000 social media engagements during the games – more than 2x the next closest sponsor. (Note: unlike other platforms that only report on social mentions, we tally mentions, retweets comments and post likes to calculate total engagements.)

4C clients certainly had a strong showing at the games with second-screen messages paired to key moments through Social Ads & TV Sync. We also delivered comprehensive monitoring of TV commercials and event footage via Content Analytics leveraging our Teletrax solution.

It’s going to be hard to wait 4 years for Tokyo but thankfully we have plenty of notable events to keep us busy in the meantime. Check out our Hot Facts for the latest happenings in pop culture and upcoming Events for the key shows in our industry.
